What is the Regulated Plants Database?
The Regulated Plants Database is a comprehensive resource that tracks and displays information about regulated invasive plant species across different U.S. states, Canadian provinces, and Australia. Our goal is to provide researchers, agricultural professionals, and the public with easy access to information about which plants are regulated in different jurisdictions.
This project compiles data from governmental agricultural authorities to create an interactive map and searchable database of regulated invasive species, making it easier to understand the complex regulatory landscape surrounding these plants.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create a centralized, accessible repository of information about regulated invasive plants to help:
- Researchers track regulatory trends across regions
- Agricultural professionals identify plants of concern
- Policymakers develop informed regulation strategies
- Gardeners and land managers make responsible planting decisions
- Educational institutions teach about invasive species management
The Team
The Regulated Plants Database is a project led by researchers at the University of California, Davis Department of Plant Sciences, specializing in plant ecology, invasive species management, and agricultural policy. Our interdisciplinary team combines expertise in botany, data science, and regulatory frameworks to create a comprehensive resource for understanding plant regulations.
